Seriously... you can't. And tonight's post will prove that!
Breakfast was 2 Van's Light waffles, 17 grams chunky honey pb, 2 turkey bacon slices, a banana, and 1/8 cup SF syrup with decaf coffee and water.

Today was our first day of healthy, packed school lunches! I gave everyone a pep talk last night. I told them I knew it wouldn't be anyone's favorite foods. I asked them to please not complain and whine, eat all of their food, and try to have a good attitude. The kids had everything I had except 1) I only gave them 6 bell pepper strips each. 2) They had 2 slices of ham with Laughing Cow Light Garlic & Herb spread in the middle instead of turkey and a string cheese
I was soooo proud of my kids! My two youngest will eat raw tomatoes, peppers, onion, cucumber, etc. You name it, they eat it. My older two don't like vegetables. Period. My husband used to only eat green beans. But today (yes, I packed his, too, and gave him a pep talk, lol), everyone ate their bell pepper strips! Some requested only red or only green flavor next time. But I can handle that! The kids loved their lunch meat roll ups, and they were relieved because they didn't think they would. The kids weren't super thrilled about the garlicy cracker flavor. I can tweak that - no problemo.
I had 28 grams of Wheat Thins crackers, 2 oz of turkey, a WW string cheese, pineapple in 100% juice, and bell pepper strips.

I could've croaked when I realized my lunch was only 6 points+! And I was worried because I did NOT feel full, but dessert helped. ;)
So I am a liar. I know I said I wasn't going to buy anymore for the house, but..... I called the husband today before lunch and told him I really wanted to try drinking Diet Dr. Pepper again - responsibly. Isn't that the dumbest thing ever! I have to be RESPONSIBLE drinking my diet drinks??? Lol But I told him I wanted to put only one in the fridge each night to be used for lunch the next day. Now that I have the instant coffee for breakfast, I don't feel like I have to grab a diet drink or get "stuck with water." I have Crystal Light for supper. So I'm trying it. Hubby is to monitor usage and actions and detox me if needed. Haha
I also seem to have a major sweet tooth this week. I really don't want to get used to sweets every day, but with just starting I am going slow and my only worry is staying within my points. I had him pick up a 6-pack of Fun Size M&Ms at the store, too. I had 2 packs.

About 3 hours later, I had a bag of 94% FF kettle corn.

Supper tonight was 3.8 oz of baked chicken dipped in 14 grams RF honey mustard. I also had steamed veggie medley and a small potato topped with 14 grams ICBINB, 28 grams 2% Colby Jack, 3/4 a slice of crumbled turkey bacon, and a dollop of 0% Greek yogurt.

When starting to type this up, I had a Granola Thin.

I am an even bigger liar. The two people who were going to travel the 3 hours with my husband tomorrow to go to the meeting backed out. I talked to my daddy on the phone today and it just made me miss him. I also had a dream about him last night, holding my son. For new readers, my dad is a month shy of 76. He has had 4 open heart surgeries and isn't doing good right now. I am snatching up the opportunity to go see him and Mom. :) I'm sorry. I just can't help it.
BUT... we didn't leave today when the husband got home from work as planned to spend the night. That means I ate my meals at home all day and only used 3 weeklies. I have 10 left that expire tomorrow. I have a super fast breakfast here at home that I will make (microwave, haha) for everyone in the morning before leaving. I am packing snacks for boredom eating/hunger while traveling. I WILL NOT HAVE DESSERT AT THE MEETING. I am going to eat the food in reasonable portions, count points to the best of my ability, and not touch the dessert. I have made myself accountable to this with my husband who always helps me. If the meal at the meeting is a main-course meal, we will stop for Subway on the trip home tomorrow. No burgers and fries, etc.
With all this in place, I feel good about going. It will be a long day - round trip in one day. If I don't get home horribly late, I will check in. If I do get in late, I will check in the next night.
In a nutshell: I am an idiot! I have to get up at like 4:45 am now!!! I'm sure I will nap on the way down. As long as the driver doesn't, right??? Lol I am so, so, so happy with my week. It wasn't perfect, but it has been tracked and within my daily and weekly points. Started our new school schedule today and it was such a help and blessing! It is the best schedule I've ever tried out, by far. The kids never had a single complaint or tough moment. Yippee!!! I didn't exercise this morning as scheduled because for starters, I still don't have a brace and am worried about my knee. Secondly, I forgot to lay out any of my exercise clothes or shoes and by the time I dug it out and then got dressed, some of my DVD time would've been gone anyway. I'm still working on the brace issue. Have a great day tomorrow!
I just wanted to say that I love your blog. I struggle with a lot of what you are going through. I am addicted to Diet Pepsi and it seems so silly when I talk to other people about it. They just don't get it. Good luck with having only the one cold one for lunch. Baby steps. I have a quick question for you. Where did you get the containers you used for your lunch? I love it. Thanks and have a great day.
ReplyDeleteSue
Hi, Sue. Thank you so much for letting me know you enjoy my blog. Things like that keep me writing! The containers are Rubbermaid Lunchblox containers. There are all kinds of different sizes and kinds. Walmart didn't sell the ones I wanted. I got them at Publix. They weren't super cheap. :( The next week, they went on sale for 40% off each!!! I do love them, though. I bought the entree container, side container, and snack containers. The dividers come with the entree container. Google them and check it out!
DeleteYou are not a liar; you just change your mind and adapt to the circumstances. Be careful with those DDP's though. You control them. Don't let them control you. I think you will. You are in a good place now, mentally. That, for me, is the biggest challenge. Once my mind is right, everything else falls in to place.

Thanks, Lori. I'm going to do my best to control those DDP! If they start controlling ME, they are out again!
DeleteAww I dont blame you for going to see your parents!! I know you miss them too! But that is great that you have a plan girl you can do this!!! And yay for healthy lunches for everyone, breakfast looked amazing by the way!!

ReplyDeleteYes, life does happen. And it seems to happen a lot in this household! Lol I did enjoy my visit. Thank you!
DeleteThe school lunches look great! I love that they like the bell peppers! I didn't like them till I was in my early twenties! I'm wondering what they would taste like rolled up in the turkey wrap... oo that sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at all the things my 2 youngest will eat that I wouldn't touch until I was grown and married! :) I actually DID put some of mine inside the turkey wrap and so did my hubby. :)
DeleteGood job on a great week! I love that you made healthy lunches for the kids. I think that shows that you are viewing this as a lifestyle and not a diet...only for you. Bravo!
