Rolling with the Punches

What a great day.  I didn't starve all day today.  I had some hungry moments, but I eat when I feel it is absolutely necessary (like between lunch and supper and near bedtime) and try to hold out when I feel like I can (like between breakfast and lunch).  Not having to have a snack between breakfast and lunch is definitely helping my points usage.  I'm always a high-points eater, so I need to save points when and where I can to be able to balance things out for the week.

Breakfast was a FF Krusteaz Cranberry Orange muffin, 2 hard boiled eggs, and a pretty big clementine.

Today's lunch was 2 oz of Tyson Grilled and Ready steak and chicken with a WW string cheese made into miniature kabobs.  I also had cucumber slices, an apple, and 28 grams Wheat Thins crackers.  For the record, hubby let me know straight up he would NOT eat a cucumber.  Lol.  I made him eat the leftover green bell pepper strips instead.  ;)

In the afternoon, I was very hungry.  VERY hungry.  I hated to rack up a lot of points for a snack.  I grabbed a Granola Thin.  These things are soooo yummy but small.  To my surprise, it made the hunger signals go away and I made it until supper!

Supper was a 91% lean beef frozen burger patty that I found at Kroger.  I had it on a Healthy Life bun with 14 grams RF mayo, a 2% cheese slice, pickles, lettuce, and ketchup.  On the side, I ate 84 grams Alexia baked french fries and 130 grams baked beans.

After eating, we rushed (literally) out the door to go to a friend's church for revival an hour away.  In doing so, my husband got a speeding ticket and we were 20 minutes late for church.  Boohoo!  It was a 55 mph zone, and we were behind someone going less than that.  So in a passing zone, hubby passed and got clocked at 70 mph while passing.  As soon as he passed, he was right back down to 60 mph (the allotted 5 mph extra, haha), but then the police car came out of nowhere.  What. A. Bummer.  That's hubby's first ticket in 12 years now.  I've not had one our entire marriage.  What's crazy is *I* am the horrible driver.  I seriously have been pulled over for drunk driving and I don't even drink.  LOL  Bad, I know!

After the church service, our friends were having a meal for the visiting preacher and his family and invited us to join them.  I did really great, in my opinion!  It wasn't horribly hard.  The main dish was smoked chicken with no sauce or anything on it.  It was pulled off the bone, so there wasn't even skin.  That part was simple. There was gorgeous looking breads, though, and mayo and lettuce to make it into a sandwich if you wanted.  Of course there were chips, too.  Oh, and there was potato soup!

I had what I would estimate as 2 oz of the smoked chicken if I was weighing it on my scale, some pickles, and fresh broccoli florets with appx 1 TBSP light ranch for dipping.  I asked my friend to take a picture with her phone and email it to me.  Lol

There was ice cream and rocky road brownies.  I started not to have anything, but then I realized it would be okay to indulge in something.  I allowed myself a normal sized brownie piece with the white chocolate chips and marshmallows on top.  I am just gonna guess at a points value, and I'm sorry that I didn't get a pic.

In a nutshell:  It's 1:00 am!!!  I gotta get in bed.  :)  I am very proud of today.  I could've saved 8 points+ today, but then I would've missed out on an awesome-looking and tasty brownie that I had never tried before.  Yay for me for not having brownie AND ice cream.  I'm so proud that I was able to fairly easily make a wise choice tonight for food instead of using the situation as an excuse as to why I had to go off program tonight.  I love the mentality you get with a victory like this.  I'm hoping for the snowball effect in future choices!  Tomorrow morning is WI again already.  Wow.  I will post it under my WI tab and will also check back here tomorrow night.  Have a great weekend, everyone!

  1. I'm trying hard this year to focus on the positives throughout the day instead of the negatives. I want to still eat the foods I love but I know I need to work on smaller portions. Sounds like you had a really positive day. Keep it up!

    1. That is funny. I noticed after posting that I had exactly what my friend Lauryn posted as her supper last night. I already had it on the meal list. I didn't steal it from her. LOL

  3. I get hungry between lunch and dinner too. I plan for a snack so I don't end up eating something on a whim.

Great job tracking and staying true to your goals.

  5. I admire how well you did at the friend's house. Great job!

Have you mentioned what church you go to? I go to one called, "The Door" and when you mention things your church does it reminds me of the fellowship we are apart of. So, I was curious...

    Have a great weekend!

    1. I never say because I try to keep my blog neutral, non-political, non-denom. Hahaha But I am an independent Baptist, and we have lots of like-minded churches that we have friends at. There's nothing much in our immediate area (that's why we started a church here a year ago), so we have to travel some distance. But it's fun!

    1. Yes, they do. I'm at my 2-week-failure mark but still feel strong. I'm trying to have a different attitude about things this time around. Thanks for the encouragement!

    1. Thanks! The Granola things are good, but they are just a maybe 2x2 square and thin. But they give you the feeling that you're eating something sweet, which we all crave at times. :)

  9. Awesome job with the loss and staying on track!! You did great.

I would've had a brownie too :) You are right....it's absolutely ok to indulge on occasion.

    Happy Saturday!

Your meals always look so good. I recently bought two zip lock divided containers (bento box'ish). The kids love their lunches in them.

    Still enjoying your blog :)

  10. Good job! I don't think any of us are fat because we ate ONE brownie...! It is the overindulgence that gets us.
