Really on Top of Things

And I'm actually just referring to my cell phone!  LOL  I guess I fell asleep with it in the bed last night.  Next thing I know this morning, hubby wakes me up at nearly 8:00 and tells me what time it is.  I felt my cell under me and grabbed it and it was saying "dismiss?"  Sheesh!  So the alarm went off but was muffled by my body!  And I was soooo tired this morning!  My eyes just felt heavy and didn't want to open.  I've felt tired all day, and it's not quite 10:00 pm yet and I'm ready for bed!

As I got ready to eat breakfast this morning, a friend called.  I got all preoccupied and forgot to snap a pic of breakfast.  Oopsie!  I had a Lean Pockets breakfast sandwich and 5 strawberries.

Lunch was a bed of baby spinach leaves with a lemon pepper tuna pack on top.  I also cut up a hard boiled egg and a WW string cheese and threw it on top.  Then I added 13 grams of dried cranberries.  It looked dry without the mayo I'm used to in tuna salad.  I thought for a minute and then drizzled 1 tsp of olive oil on top.  On the side I had an apple, 6 LF saltines, and 2 pieces of celery with some pb and more dried cranberries on top.

I got really hungry later in the afternoon.  Sadly, the kids discovered my ice cream bars in the freezer.  I had to share.  They each got one and hubby took the other with him after he finished his lunch.  Boohoo.  I resorted to another Fiber One protein bar.

These definitely have that "protein bar taste," but I have enjoyed them!  There is only one left.

Supper was a loaded potato.  I got the recipe here but then tweaked it in a lot of ways.  For one, I used a regular baking potato.  I added 14 grams of Smart Balance spread after it was baked.  I topped it with 25 grams of 2% shredded cheddar.  I thought I had black beans, but I didn't.  Plus, the husband was all upset about NO MEAT.  Lol  Whatever.  So I used Tyson grilled and ready chicken instead of the beans.  I measured out 3 oz for myself.  Then I added peppers and onions that I had cooked in 1 tsp of olive oil.  I did use the chili powder and cumin, and I also mixed my 0% Greek yogurt with taco seasoning. I added just a tad of salsa to mine. Overall, everyone but my son loved the meal.  Will be making it in the future, I'm sure.  My picture just doesn't do it justice.  Go to the link I gave for the real deal.  I am a good yapper, blogger, and a socialite, but NOT a photographer!  ;)

"Dessert" was some kiwi and star fruit.

Then we headed out the door for church tonight.  During church, my son started asking for McDonald's.  He didn't like the potato, so he still wanted to eat even though I made him eat his tater.  Lol  I kept telling him no.  After church, though, he recruited all his siblings into pressuring me to take them through the drive-thru.  I decided there was nothing I wanted to spend points or money on at McD's.  I started to go one town over to Taco Bell and get a cheese roll-up.  But in the spirit of trying to seriously reduce our eating out and trying to eat more healthfully, I drove on home.  I was elated.  The kids were dismayed.  I made a compromise.  They are only allowed to have cereal on the weekends now.  Hubby is a junky cereal fanatic, so I do still buy it.  The kids only get it on Saturday now.  So I told them they could have Lucky Charms as their snack.  It's not wonderful, but it's MUCH better than what they wanted from McD's.  I consider it a win.

I, however, had no clue what I wanted.  Actually, I did.  I wanted a mini bag of 94% FF popcorn and a Fun Size bag of M&Ms.  The problem was that the husband went to Walmart after church tonight, so I would have to wait for him to come home with the goods.  I had the popcorn... just not the sugary stuff.

I thought I could deter myself by trying the new oatmeal I bought.  The kids said it was super good.  Poor kids must really be not as used to sugar now because Mommy was not impressed.

I'm glad it was so low in points, but I liked the raisins, dates, and walnuts kind much better.  I even like the apple cinnamon kind much better.

So then I was just left feeling bummed out, super sleepy, and really wishing I had waited for what I wanted.  When I get like that, I am really better off to just spend the extra points and fix the problem.  I wasn't the least bit hungry, so I know this wasn't good and I ate from boredom or "want to."  At least I took care of the craving issue.  I had a mini 94% FF bag of popcorn and half a bag of M&Ms.  Hubby misunderstood and got an actual bag instead of a Fun Size 8-pack.

In a nutshell:  Not sure how I feel about today.  It was okay.  My points reset today.  I was also back down to my lowest this morning.  Hopefully today's eats didn't mess that up too much.  So I hated using up 12 weeklies on day one of my week.  That stinks!  Sadly, we are traveling Monday through Thursday or Friday next week to attend a missions conference.  Sounds bad to say sadly!  LOL  I only mean that in terms of throwing me off of my points and school schedule.  We will be eating out Monday for supper, breakfast at Mom and Dad's, then heading on to NC.  Will be eating all my meals there, no clue what will be served, etc.  I'm going to commit to do my best, but I doubt counting points will be feasible.  Anyway, because of all this I've decided I'm eating at home this weekend to save money and try to keep controlled while it is within my hands!  Hopefully this will help.  Okay, y'all.  I'm going to fix up tomorrow's lunches and hopefully fall asleep!  Night!  Oh, hi to my new followers!  I noticed the number going up recently.  :)

  3. Good for you for making the choice about McD's. I wish you the best during your travels. Be strong and try to resist eating off plan since you aren't counting points anyway. You've got this!
